ANT-MAN MCU Timeline Revealed, New Hank Pym Photos, and TV Spot

Yesterday we revealed some information about Wasp getting to see some action in Marvel's Ant-Man. Today we have some new photos of Michael Douglas as Hank Pym along with some information regarding the timeline of the movie and where it fits in with the MCU.

According to Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige, the story is set shortly after the events that unfolded in Joss Whedon’s Avengers: Age of Ultron. When Feige was asked how the film fits into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, he said:

“We don’t exactly say. There’s an indication that is probably just after Ultron, just after Avengers 2. The present day films take place within the chronology of the release of movies, the exact months and the exact weeks after sometimes determined later.”

Most of Ant-Man will take place in the present, but according to Cinema Blend, there’s a good part of the film that is going to focus on another era not yet explored in the MCU: The late 1980s. In fact, the very first scene that we'll see in the film is set in 1989 and it will apparently feature a digitally de-aged Michael Douglas as Dr. Hank Pym, as well as John Slattery’s Howard Stark from Iron Man 2, and a digitally-aged Hayley Atwell as Agent Peggy Carter.

“This very much has its roots grounded in the mythology of the cinematic universe and it is connected via Hank Pym, to a period of time that relates to Howard Stark and relates to Peggy Carter and to the mid-days of S.H.I.E.L.D.”

Director Peyton Reed has said that Ant-Man will not be a "flashback heavy movie," but they had to throw in some of them to inform the audience of the certain events that are going on in the present, as well as in the characters’ lives.

“There are a couple of times where we sort of jump back and witness key moments and key things that inform Hank’s life, and as you know, if you know the comics, Hank Pym is a really difficult character. He’s a very complicated character.”

Ant-Man comes out on July 17th! You can watch a new TV spot below as well that heavily features Yellowjacket:
