Anthony Hopkins Says His Time as Odin in The MCU Was "Pointless Acting"

Anthony Hopkins was a great choice to take on the role of Odin in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He appeared in Thor, Thor: The Dark World, and they killed his character off in Thor: Ragnarok.

During a recent interview with The New Yorker, the Oscar-winning actor talked about his time working on those Marvel movies and he really wasn’t impressed with it all. In fact, he called it “pointless acting” because there was “no acting required.” He said:

“They put me in armor; they shoved a beard on me. Sit on the throne; shout a bit. If you’re sitting in front of a green screen, it’s pointless acting it.”

Yeah, I can see where he’s coming from, but there’s no doubt that he got paid the big bucks for all that pointless acting! That’s one of the perks of signing up for these big-budget movies! They may not be a challenge for these awesome seasoned actors, but hopefully he at least had fun doing it!
