Anthony Mackie Says He Hopes to Play Captain America for a Couple More Decades
Anthony Mackie is the world’s Captain America now. He appeared to have been bestowed the mantle at the end of Avengers: Endgame when Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) passed on the shield to Mackie’s Sam Wilson. We saw his tumultuous struggle with becoming Cap in the series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, but the final episode set us up for his full embrace in becoming the avenger, which we will see come fully to fruition in the film Captain America 4.
But if it’s up to Mackie, this is only the beginning. In a recent interview with Variety (via CinemaBlend), Mackie was asked how long he might be playing the role. He responded:
“I hope the next two decades, that’s what I’m hoping for. So if I can be 65 and still doing this, I’m crushing it.”
This would be over double the timespan that Evans played Captain America, so we will see what Mackie is still up for it 10 years from now. I am excited for the next phase in the Captain America movie saga, and I am looking forward to seeing Mackie in the role for many years to come. Are you excited for Captain America 4?
