Marvel’s The Falcon and The Winter Soldier drops on Disney+ later this month and we are going to get to see the story of Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes continue as they once again face off with Baron Zemo. I’m super excited about this series because the tone is the same as Captain America: The Winter Soldier, which is one of my favorite Marvel movies.

Anthony Mackie is back in the role of Sam Wilson in the series and in a recent interview with Disney's D23 Magazine, Mackie explains that Sam is taking fewer chances with his life after having been "blipped" out of existence and then “blipped” in five years later. According to the actor, Falcon, is more “Tony Starkerized” explaining:

"The wings have become much more pliable, much more dynamic. He's much more of a winged force. Coming out of Endgame and being blipped out and blipped back in, it seems this time around, he really appreciates being alive. He's been even more 'Tony Starkerized' than before."

In the story, the mismatched pair are military vets and former partners of Captain America “who team up for a global adventure that will test their survival skills — as well as their patience.” As you’ll see, the two characters are going to need a little help getting along with each other.

Series showrunner Malcolm Spellman previously talked about the story and how it will address the blip, saying:

"There's no hiding from the fact that four billion people in the MCU disappeared for five years, and then came back. And our show picks up from there and directly talks about what the world feels like to be in flux and dealing with one global issue. When the pandemic hits, and the entire planet has to come together and deal with it, the synergy there is perfect."

The series will also see the return of Daniel Bruhl as Baron Zemo, along with Emily VanCamp as Sharon Carter, as well as newcomer Wyatt Russell as John Walker, a.k.a. U.S. Agent.

It’s been rumored that he might be involved with some sort of massive viral threat. It’s been speculated that this viral threat could come from Virus X, the Madbomb, or something else that will put the population in grave danger.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is directed by Kari Skogland, and Malcolm Spellman is the head writer. The series will premiere on Disney+ on March 19th, 2021.
