Anthony Mackie Set to Star in the Live-Action TWISTED METAL Series
Anthony Mackie (The Falcon and the Winter Soldier) is set to take on the lead role in the upcoming series adaptation of the Twisted Metal video game franchise. I’m a huge fan of the original game that was released in the ‘90s, and I’m actually pretty excited to see how this series turns out, especially with Deadpool and Zombieland writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick developing it.
The series is said to be an action-comedy, and it will center on a “motor-mouthed outsider John Doe (Mackie) who is offered a chance at a better life, but only if he can successfully deliver a mysterious package across a post-apocalyptic wasteland. With the help of a trigger-happy car thief, he’ll face savage marauders driving vehicles of destruction and other dangers of the open road, including a deranged clown named who drives an all too familiar ice cream truck, whom fans of the game will know as Sweet Tooth.”
Yeah, that actually sounds like it’ll be a blast! I can see this series being filled with so many cool and crazy visuals and glorious destructive chaos! This could be such an awesome show, and I hope the creative team is able to bring the insanity of the game franchise to life in the series.
The series is being developed by Sony Pictures Television and Michael Jonathan Smith will write and executive produce the series. Reese and Wernick are attached to executive produce. Will Arnett is also an executive producer.
