Anthony Michael Hall Talks REACHER Season 3 and His Villainous Character
Anthony Micheal Hall (Bosch: Legacy) is set to take on the role of the main villain in Reacher Season 3. He will play Zachary Beck “a formidable and successful businessman.”
Beck is “a widow and single father of a 20-year-old son, Richard. He is the owner of a rug import company that Reacher and his cohorts suspect is a cover for a more nefarious operation.”
During a recent interview with Screen Rant, Hall opened up about his character and shared some details on what fans can expect to see from him.
Hall explained: "The character is Zachary Beck, and on the surface, he's like a kingpin of wholesale drug dealing. But the truth is that it's a front; it's a cover for something a little seedier.
“The intro to this third season is that Reacher basically saved my son's ass. He's getting roughed up by what we think are a bunch of townies, but ultimately it's a dirtier group of people.”
He went on to talk about how the series will set up his character saying: "In the first episode, you see my son — played by Johnny Berchtold, a really talented young actor — gets roughed up in the town and Reacher comes to save the day in the way that Reacher does.
“Reacher comes in, kicks some ass, saves the day. From that point, my son Richard says to him, 'Look, you should come talk to my dad. He can help you out, maybe put you to work,' which leads to me hiring Reacher."
Hall went on to talk about Beck and Reacher’s working relationship saying: "I don't want to say much more than that, but basically, that's the story: this father-son dynamic.
“But then there's this whole thing of Zachary Beck and who he represents to Reacher. Reacher will be working for him, but as you know, he's kind of a double agent. He's still working with that whole thing.
“There's an excellent actor named Brian Tee, who's also a part of this season. His character steps out of the shadows, and you realize that the two of us are into some dirty dealings.
“It's going to lead to a broader story that my son gets involved in and further linked into, if that makes sense.”
Season 3 is Based on Lee Child’s novel Persuader, Reacher must go undercover to rescue an informant held by a haunting foe from his past.
In the story: “Jack Reacher lives for the moment. Without a home. Without commitment. And with a burning desire to right wrongs—and rewrite his own agonizing past. DEA Susan Duffy is living for the future, knowing that she has made a terrible mistake by putting one of her own female agents into a death trap within a heavily guarded Maine mansion.
“Staging a brilliant ruse, Reacher hurtles into the dark heart of a vast criminal enterprise. Trying to rescue an agent whose time is running out, Reacher enters a crime lord’s waterfront fortress. There he will find a world of secrecy and violence—and confront some unfinished business from his own past.”
Reacher Season 3 is currently filming in Toronto. The show is written for television by Nick Santora, Reacher is produced by Amazon MGM Studios, Skydance Television, and Paramount Television Studios.
