Antonio Banderas Drops New Details About His INDIANA JONES AND THE DIAL OF DESTINY Character

We finally got to see the first full trailer for Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny this week, and it gave fans a lot to talk about! The movie looks action packed, and it welcomes back Indy himself, Harrison Ford, for what is set to be his final adventure as the beloved archeologist. He is joined by Mads Mikkelsen (Another Round), Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag), Boyd Holbrook (Logan), Shaunette Renée Wilson (The Resident), Thomas Kretschmann (Avengers: Age Of Ultron), John Rhys-Davies (Indiana Jones and The Raiders of the Lost Ark, The Lord of the Rings), and Antonio Banderas (Once Upon a Time in Mexico, Puss in Boots).

While the plot of the film has remained under wraps, we do know that the story takes place in 1969 and Phoebe Waller-Bridge is set to play Indy’s goddaughter, Helena. We haven’t known the roles of many other characters, but Antonio Banderas recently talked to Collider about his part in the movie, revealing:

“My character is very little; it's almost a cameo[...] He's just a friend of Indiana's character, and he's looking for him because he needs something from his friend. But he just takes up very little time of the movie, but very happy to be part of a saga that is of the history of motion pictures, obviously.”

The actor went on to say that although the part is small, he is super stoked to be a part of it.

“Just the fact that I step on the set, for me, was important. And I got to tell you: I had a great time with Harrison. He's a gentleman on the set and outside of the set. I share some dinners with him and some time, and what a gentleman.”

While it’s a bummer to hear that Banderas doesn’t have a bigger part in the movie, it’s still totally possible to assume that we may see him in the future of the franchise, as Disney+ is developing a series based on Indiana Jones.

The movie is directed by James Mangold from a script he wrote with Jez Butterworth and John-Henry Butterworth. Steven Spielberg is producing.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny hits theaters on June 30, 2023.
