Antonio Banderas Joins Tom Holland in Sony's UNCHARTED Film Adaptation
Antonio Banderas is the latest actor to join director Ruben Fleischer’s (Venom) Uncharted movie. He will join the previously cast Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg, who are taking on the roles of Nathan Drake and Sully. Also joining the cast are Sophia Ali and The 100 actor Tati Gabrielle.
The movie is set to tell the story of a young Nathan Drake, before he becomes the badass treasure hunter that we all know and love from the game. Nathan Drake is known for his adventures across the world as he uncovers various historical mysteries. Sully is his mentor.
There’s no information on who Banderas, Ali, and Gabrielle will be playing in the film. But, I can see Banderas taking on the role of the lead villain. We just don’t know who that villain is.
When previously talking about the film, Holland said that it is one of the best scripts he’s ever read:
“I think what Uncharted offers that most video games films don't is that it's an origin story to the games. So if you played the games, you haven't seen what's going to happen in the film. And if you haven't played the games, you're going to enjoy the film because it's information that everyone else is getting at the same time. But I'm super excited to make that movie and it's been a long time coming.
“I read the newest draft of the script on the way over here and it's one of the best scripts I've ever read. It really, really jumps off the page.”
Art Marcum and Matt Holloway wrote the most recent draft of the script, and Uncharted is set to be released in theaters March 5, 2021.
