Anya Taylor-Joy Will Reteam With THE WITCH Director For NOSFERATU Remake
I normally don't get excited about remakes, but I'm actually really interested in seeing this upcoming remake of the 1922 vampire film Nosferatu.
One of the main reasons for my excitement is the fact it's being directed by Robert Eggers, who is the incredibly talented filmmaker that made the creepy horror thriller The Witch. That was such a great movie! If you haven't seen it, you need to watch it!
Now, according to Variety, the star of The Witch, Anya Taylor-Joy, is in negotiations to join Nosferatu, which is awesome. She's such a talented young actress who most recently starred in M. Night Shymalan's Split and will also star in the upcoming sequel Glass.
In case you don't know, Nosferatu is an unauthorized film adaptation of Bram Stoker's Dracula. The story follows a vampire named Count Orlok from Transylvania who expresses interest in a new residence in Germany. This is where he becomes infatuated with his real-estate agent’s wife.
One of my favorite Nosferatu-inspired movies was Shadow of the Vampire with John Malkovich, Willem Dafoe, and Cary Elwes. That movie is so damn funny! If you've never seen it, It's required viewing for any film fan.
I'm sure this remake that's currently in development is going to be straight up horror, though. With the amount of care and detail that Eggers put into developing The Witch, I know this remake of Nosferatu is going to be top notch quality filmmaking and I'm looking forward to seeing it.
