Apple TV+ Renews M. Night Shyamalan's Thriller Series SERVANT For Season 2
Apple TV+ isn’t waiting around to see how well M. Night Shyamalan’s psychological thriller series Servant does before renewing it for a second season. While the first season of the show is set to debut on November 28th, the streaming service has already greenlit a second season.
The news came from executive producer M. Night Shyamalan himself while appearing on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.
Servant follows a Philadelphia couple, played by Lauren Ambrose and Toby Kebbell, in mourning after an unspeakable tragedy creates a rift in their marriage and opens the door for a mysterious force, in the form of a nanny, to enter their home. The unspeakable tragedy is the death of their 13-week-old baby, and to help them cope with what happened, they are given a Reborn Doll, which is meant to help grieving parents cope with a sudden loss like this.
At a press junket while promoting the show's first season earlier this week, Shyamalan talked to TV Guide about Season 2 saying, "We're writing away on the second season. Some really crazy stuff is happening. ... We all talk about, what's the movement of the story? ... What will we learn by the end of the second episode? What is its final moment? In my mind we talk a lot about, what's the final moment of this series and how are we aiming to that?"
This show looks like it’s gonna be good. I like the unsettling and dark tone of it and I’m curious to see how crazy the story gets.
Servant was created and written by Tony Basgallop, and it has a great cast that also includes Nell Tiger Free and Rupert Grint.
