AQUAMAN Director James Wan Recommends Budding Directors Practice

James Wan is a pretty successful filmmaker. Hopefully, his latest project, Aquaman, will be another success story. With his success with films like The Conjuring and Saw, people often wonder what advice he might have for becoming a director. In a new video on the official Aquaman twitter, a couple of youths asked Wan for advice on becoming a good director and his answer was pretty simple: practice. Wan stressed the point of practicing with whatever you have, even if it’s just a phone. Let’s face it, phone technology has come a long way, so it’s not too out there for beginners to start with their phones.

It’s so easy for you to just sort of make something and for it to be seen, right? Use your phone or get a little camera and just shoot something and put it together, I think that’s the best way.

The more you shoot, the more you write your scripts, the more you edit you just get better and better. Like they say, practice makes you better.

Aquaman is sure to make a splash when it swims into theaters on December 21, 2018.
