AQUAMAN Star Yahya Abdul-Mateen II Will Take on a Lead Role in MATRIX 4

Aquaman star Yahya Abdul-Mateen II has been cast in a lead role in director Lana Wachowski’s Matrix 4. Apparently, the director has been meeting with several actors for this “secret role” over the past week, and she obviously found what she was looking for in Yahya Abdul-Mateen II.

The actor will join the previously cast Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss, who will be reprising their roles in the film. Wachowski is also writing the script for the film with Aleksandar Hemon and David Mitchell.

There still aren’t any details on what the story will entail, but it’s been said that it will feature a young version of Morpheus and a young version of Neo. Could Abdul-Mateen be playing Morpheus? I guess we’ll just have to wait and see! The film is said to begin production at the top of 2020.

Abdul-Mateen is a solid actor, and he was most recently cast to play Black Panther co-founder Bobby Seale in Aaron Sorkin’s The Trial of the Chicago 7. He also landed the lead role in the Jordan Peele-produced Candyman reboot.
