ARCANE Co-Creator Confirms Jinx’s Fate in Season 2 Finale - "She's Definitely Not Dead"

The second season of Arcane left fans in shock and confusion with its dramatic finale that seemingly killed off one of the series’ most iconic characters. But according to the show’s co-creator, that ending may not be as definitive as it appeared.

Netflix’s awesome animated series based on League of Legends returned in 2024 with a long-awaited second season. While packed with action, a great story, emotional gut punches, and lore expansions, the season closed with a moment that sparked major fan debate.

In it, Jinx appears to sacrifice herself alongside Vander (aka Warwick) in an explosion, leaving viewers torn between heartbreak and skepticism.

Jinx’s death scene plays out with her making a deliberate choice to fall alongside Vander, detonating a blast that seemingly kills them both. Despite Vi’s desperate attempt to save her, Jinx doesn't hesitate.

But here’s the thing… we never see her body, and that mystery has fueled speculation for months, and now, Arcane co-creator Alex Yee has finally offered some clarification.

While speaking with Collider, Yee opened up about the decision to end the story that way and what it means for Jinx’s fate. His response is pretty revealing.

“I think there is a cost. It’s not a story where everything just works out, you know? And I think that cost is something that would be felt and something that needs to be felt. So, I will say that that is why she is definitely not dead.”

That last line will hit like a grenade with fan. “She is definitely not dead”? That’s a clear statement, and one that rewrites how we should view that explosive ending.

Still, until we see it play out in a potential Arcane spin-off or continuation, nothing is set in stone. Back in November 2024, Christian Linke, the other co-creator of Arcane, offered a much more cryptic take when asked the same question:

“I don’t really want to speak to that yet. We’re just two or three days after the release, so I’ll leave it there.”

That ambiguity left the door wide open, but Yee’s recent comment all but kicks that door down.

Whether she’s alive or not, the emotional weight of Jinx’s arc this season hit hard, and if she’s still out there, you can bet Riot and Netflix have more to say about her future.

In the meantime, Arcane fans can hold onto that glimmer of hope that Jinx’s story isn’t over yet.
