ARCANE Creative Team Discusses Act 2's Incredibly Shocking Ending

The end of Arcane Season 2 Act 2 was absolutely insane as all hell broke loose! If you aren’t caught up in the show yet, stop reading… Spoilers ahead!

In Season 2 Episode 6 Caitlyn's disloyalty led Ambessa to launch an attack on the sanctuary and Jayce killed Viktor, which sparked chaos amongst the people he'd saved. It also saw Vander flip into an uncontrollably savage rage, and the adorable and lovable little Isha sacrificed herself to stop him.

In the middle of the chaos, we watch as the young Isha overloads Jinx's pistol with Hextech cores and shoots it right underneath Vander, destroying the "beast" and several Noxian soldiers as Jinx and anyone else who was watching the series yelled out in shock.

This moment broke me and my emotions came flooding out. Yes, dammit… I cried. It was so damn sad!

During a recent interview with GamesRadar+, Jinx voice actress Ella Purnell was asked why Jinx seems "doomed to lose everyone she cares about" and she explained: "She's a jinx! It's almost a self-fulfilling prophecy. There's a reason Jinx sees a lot of herself in Isha. Isha is a lot like her.”

Purnell went on to talk about Isha, saying: "She's everything, I think, Powder wishes Powder was at that time. It's so heartbreaking 'cause she's so sweet and so innocent, and you really see a side to Jinx come out when they're playing together with the crabby robot thing.

“You see this joyfulness, this real inner child comes out. It's innocent and you start to believe that maybe with Isha's belief in her, Jinx could change. It's so heartbreaking.”

Purnell then turned to showrunner Christian Linke and asked: "What's wrong with you? Why did you write that?"

Linke responded: "I think it's a terrible reminder for Jinx that Isha is inspired by, like, the chaos of the havoc and destruction. It's another reminder, like, 'You'll never be able to escape this'. It's just so tough, especially when it happens to someone as innocent as Isha."

The storytelling and character development for Arcane is top-tier work and Hollywood should be taking note because this is great freakin’ storytelling! It’s the best and strongest that I’m seeing right now in any film or TV series.

I have no idea where the show is going to go from here, but I’m excited about Act 3, which is coming on November 23rd.
