ARCHER Renewed For Three More Seasons of Eight Episodes Each
Good news for fans of the Figgis Detective Agency and the world's most famous former superspy, Sterling Archer: Adam Reed's hilarious FX spy comedy Archer has been renewed for three more seasons, according to Variety. But there's a little bit of bad news, too (well, not bad, but slightly disappointing) — all three new seasons will only contain eight episodes each. Seasons one and seven had 10 episodes each, while every other season featured thirteen, so this is less Archer than we're used to.
But the fact that the show is coming back at all should be cause for a huge sigh of relief for those of us who watched the most recent season of the show, which — SPOILER ALERT if you haven't caught up yet — ended with Archer seemingly dead floating face down in a pool. I can't wait to see how the writers write their way out of that one.
“We can’t say enough about what Adam, Matt and the entire Archer team at Floyd County [Productions] have done to keep this series so insanely funny and vital through seven seasons,” said Nick Grad, president of original programming for FX Networks and FX Productions. “The move to Los Angeles this past season as private detectives was just the latest twist in Archer’s legendary exploits and the next three seasons will to be just as amazing and unpredictable. We are thrilled to continue making great TV with our friends and colleagues at Floyd County.”
