Arnold Schwarzenegger Talks About His New TERMINATOR Film and Says James Cameron was Very Involved

I was pretty excited to learn that James Cameron was going to be producing a new Terminator: Dark Fate film. This next film will be the first Terminator movie that he’s been involved with since T2. Tim Miller (Deadpool) ended up in the directors chair, but I wondered how much Cameron would be involved, especially with him being deep into development on his Avatar sequels.

Well, if you thought he would be taking a back seat on this movie and letting Miller completely run the show, you’d be wrong. In a recent interview with The Arnold Fans, Arnold Schwarzenegger talked about the production of the film a bit and he explained that Cameron was very involved, because he’s a control freak:

"It was a very interesting film to do with Tim, the dynamic, between him and with Jim Cameron producing. So Jim Cameron is right now directing Avatar films so he’s taken on this enormous challenge and he’s very busy with that BUT he’s a control freak and as you know, Terminator is kind of his baby so he does get involved in the filming so there were interesting discussions about which direction to go with a certain scene or how the dialogue should finish or what the certain look should be of an individual and all that stuff so there was a big collaboration between Jim and Tim Miller. I feel it was in good hands with both of them."

That makes me happy to hear. That means Cameron’s fingerprints are going to be all over this movie just like they were with Alita: Battle Angel. There’s actually a good chance that Terminator: Dark Fate could end up being a great film! When talking about working with Tim Miller, Schwarzenegger said:

"The director, Tim Miller, was very, very talented and I can see why his movie, Deadpool, made so much money and why it was successful because he’s very organized. He’s an expert with visual effects and special effects and with stunts. He felt very comfortable directing all the actors, the young and the older ones. He was a pleasure to work with."

The actor went on to explain that the budget for the upcoming Terminator film will land somewhere between $160 and $200 million. He also says he’s seen 15 minutes of the movie already and said that “it looked great and I was very excited about it.”

The movie brings back Linda Hamilton in the role of Sarah Connor and she will be joined by a few new younger leads played by Mackenzie Davis and Natalia Reyes, with Gabriel Luna as the new Terminator.

Terminator: Dark Fate is said to be the first film in a new trilogy and it will also serve as a direct sequel to Terminator 2: Judgment Day. It was already reported that the movie will ignore Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, Terminator: Salvation, and Terminator Genisys

Paramount Pictures will release the film on November 22, 2019. With the film being released this year, we can expect to see a trailer for it sometime soon!

Are you happy to hear that Cameron actually played a role in making sure this Terminator film is up to his standards?
