Artists Design Cool Sneakers for the Ninja Turtles
The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles don’t really have any options when it comes to footwear, so artists Hussain Almossawi and Quintin Williams went ahead and designed some for them!
I guess even a team of fictional fighting turtles who are martial arts experts need to have comfortable shoes to wear. These sneakers were designed for comfort, ergonomics, and style. They are perfect for their day to day activities of running errands and fighting crime. Here’s what the artists say in their description:
“The shoe’s economic design allows for ultimate comfort while it fits their 2 large fingers which is how their feet anatomy looks like. The pattern on the shoe are also inspired by hexagons from turtle shells, with small holes for ventilation to allow for better breathability. The interesting thing is that turtles actually absorb oxygen through their skin, and we try to mimic the same concept here, to give the show more context & meaning behind the design.
“The ribbon is a design element taken from one of the ninjas, Raphael, who has it as a mask tied around his eyes and head in the cartoon series. Finally the colors and patterns also take their cue from turtles, the brought green from the shells, and the black camouflage patter from the fact that they can hide inside their shells.”
