As James Gunn is Being Called Out For Lying, The Filmmaker Says He Will "Never Lie" To Fans
DC Studios co-CEO and filmmaker James Gunn is on social media all the time interacting with fans and sharing little details about the projects that he’s working on. Right now, the focus of attention is on the big plans for his upcoming slate of DC film and TV projects.
As Gunn has been talking about these plans, some fans are calling him out for lying about certain things. In a recent series of tweets, Gunn responded to a fan that referred to the filmmaker as “a professional liar.” Gunn says that he’s been committed to the fans for years and said that he has never lied to them and he never will.

Another fan then shared a bunch of screenshots that feature some of the past comments Gunn made about not directing a Superman movie or wanting to take an executive job like Kevin Feige with Marvel Studios or Walter Hamada with DC. So, Gunn responded to that, saying:
“Neither of those were lies. I was offered Superman but did Squad instead. A few years later I saw how to tackle Superman & took it on. I didn’t want to be the sole CEO of DC, but when they came & offered it to me AND Peter I said yes because I could focus on the creative side.
“Again, I’ve never once lied to the fans, and never will. That doesn’t mean I’m never going to change my mind about anything.”
