Asa Butterfield Reportedly NOT Playing Spider-Man For Marvel and Sony

It's with a heavy heart I report that Asa Butterfield (Ender's Game) is no longer in the running to play Spider-Man/Peter Parker for Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures. He was my favorite choice.

According to Jeff Sneider, reporter for The Wrap, there are only three contenders left in the Spider-Man casting battle. Those are Tom Holland (The Impossible), Charlie Plummer (Boardwalk Empire), and Matthew Lintz (Kill the Messenger).

There's no one here I'm really that excited about. Apparently casting has been stalled because Sony and Marvel can't agree on the casting. Snieder says Marvel likes Plummer in the role and and Sony likes Holland.

The actor who will play Spider-Man is due on the set of Captain America: Civil War this July, so a decision is going to be made soon. I wouldn't be surprised if Marvel talked Sony into casting Plummer. They are the studio with the stronger track record, and they've done a great job casting the other big roles in the MCU, so it seems like they know what they're doing.

Captain America: Civil War hits theaters May 6th, 2016. Out of these three young actors, who would you choose?
