Ashton Sanders to Play Bobby Brown in Whitney Houston Biopic I WANNA DANCE WITH SOMEBODY

Actor Ashton Sanders (Moonlight, Judas and the Black Messiah) has joined the cast of the Whitney Houston biopic, I Wanna Dance With Somebody. Sanders will play musician Bobby Brown, the former husband of the late singer, and father of their daughter. Naomi Ackie is set to play Houston.

Harriet director Kasi Lemmons is on board to direct from a screenplay written by Academy Award nominee Anthony McCarten (The Theory of Everything, Bohemian Rhapsody, The Two Popes). Deadline reports that “the film will take audiences on an emotional, energetic journey through Houston’s career and music.”

Sony and TriStar Pictures will release the film in theaters on December 23, 2022.
