ASSASSIN'S CREED Featurette Focuses on The 125-Foot Leap of Faith Stunt

We've already heard that the use of CGI was limited in favor of practical effects and real stunts in the upcoming Assassin's Creed movie. Star Michael Fassbender previously spoke about his stunt double pulling off the iconic Leap of Faith jump:

"We've got Damian Walters doing a 120-foot leap of faith, without any rope, into a bag. It's pretty incredible to see."

Well, it was actually a 125-foot jump, and it's one of the highest free falls performed by a stuntman in almost 35 years. Thanks to a behind-the-scene video featurette for the film, you actually get to see Fassbender's stunt double pull this off and it's pretty incredible! I have a fear of heights, so something like this would scare the living shit out of me.

When I first heard Assassin's Creed was going to get a movie, I hoped that they wouldn't use CGI for all the jumping, leaping, and other parkour stunts that are a staple of the game. I love the fact that the filmmaking team actually went out of their way to plan out real stunts for this movie, and from what I've seen it looks like they've done some great stuff!

The film follows a character named Callum Lynch who, "through a revolutionary technology that unlocks his genetic memories, is able to experience the adventures of his ancestor, Aguilar, in 15th Century Spain. Callum discovers he is descended from a mysterious secret society, the Assassins, and amasses incredible knowledge and skills to take on the oppressive and powerful Templar organization in the present day."

Assassin’s Creed is set to be released on December 21st, 2016.
