ASSASSIN'S CREED Live-Action, Anime, and Animated Shows Being Produced by Netflix

Netflix and Ubisoft are partnering up to build an Assassin’s Creed TV universe! They will be developing live-action, anime, and animated series based on the hit video game franchise. They’re obviously going all-in on this franchise!

The first series they are developing is as “an epic, genre-bending live-action adaptation.” The series will be executive produced by Ubisoft Film and Television’s Jason Altman and Danielle Kreinik, and they are currently on the hunt for a showrunner.

I’m a fan of the Assassin’s Creed franchise. I’ve enjoyed playing the games over the years, and it’ll be cool to see how these new live-action and animated shows turn out! I’m sure you all remember that disappointing film adaptation that was made with Michael Fassbender in 2016. Surely they can do better than that! If these bring the same production value to the live-action series that they brought to The Witcher and some of their other shows, this could be great!

Peter Friedlander, VP, Original Series, Netflix said in a statement:

“We’re excited to partner with Ubisoft and bring to life the rich, multilayered storytelling that Assassin’s Creed is beloved for. From its breathtaking historical worlds and massive global appeal as one of the best selling video game franchises of all time, we are committed to carefully crafting epic and thrilling entertainment based on this distinct IP and provide a deeper dive for fans and our members around the world to enjoy.”

Jason Altman, Head of Ubisoft Film and Television – Los Angeles, added:

“For more than 10 years, millions of fans around the world have helped shape the Assassin’s Creed brand into an iconic franchise. We’re thrilled to create an Assassin’s Creed series with Netflix and we look forward to developing the next saga in the Assassin’s Creed universe.”
