ASSASSIN'S CREED Movie Director Shares His Idea for a MAD MAX Prequel Film
Assassin’s Creed movie director Justin Kurzel has an idea for a Mad Max prequel that explores a story that he’s always been curious about.
While talking to Collider, he shared his concept of a film that explores the wastelands before the events of the very first Mad Max movie, which was released in 1979.
Kurzel said: “I’ll tell you what, maybe because it was such a big influence, but I’ve always been curious about what happened before the first Mad Max — what was that world with the Nightrider, pre-Mad Max?
“I’ve always been very curious about that and very tempted to talk to George [Miller] about the possibility of a world that is pre-Mad Max 1 and what that is. That’s been one that I’ve always been really curious about because it was such an influential film in my time…
“It’s an amazing franchise, but I’ve always been curious about those moments before that first one because it’s set up so richly. And it’s such a great time in Australia, too, that period.”
You know, I’d be up for watching a prequel film like that set before the events of the first Mad Max movie. That could be interesting!
The first film is a gritty, dystopian action thriller set in a near-future Australia where societal collapse has led to lawlessness and chaos. The story follows Max Rockatansky, a skilled and stoic police officer of the Main Force Patrol, as he battles violent biker gangs terrorizing the roads.
After a gang led by the sadistic Toecutter brutally murders Max's wife and young son, Max embarks on a relentless, vengeful pursuit, unleashing his fury and transforming into a hardened anti-hero.
When it comes to the future of the franchise George Miller does have plans for another movie. But., after Furiosa disappointed at the box office, who knows if we’ll ever get to see another project set in the Max Max universe again.
If the franchise did continue, though, would you be interested in a prequel movie like the one that Kurzel wants to make? Mad Max Saga.
