ASSASSIN'S CREED VALHALLA Gets a Brutal and Epic Premiere Trailer
Yesterday, Ubisoft and Boss Logic announced the next Assassin’s Creed game would be called Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. Then, this morning they released a new trailer for the game, and it looks awesome! It appears that we’ll be playing as Vikings attacking the English and conquering England. This is a really cool idea and I feel like this really lends itself to a lot of great potential. I do have a concern, though. While the game looks great and the graphics are incredible, it doesn’t feel like an Assassin’s Creed game. Sure, the guy at the end has a hidden blade, the signature weapon of the Assassins, but that’s it. There’s no stealth, no assassinating, nothing in the trailer to hint at anything more than just a Viking action game with a hidden blade weapon. I hope that in future trailers we see more of the stuff that makes an Assassin’s Creed game, well, assassin-y.

Valhalla is promising “advanced RPG mechanics” that will allow you to shape not only your character but the world around you with the promise of your in-game choices affecting the game. We’re also being promised an open world to explore and “Immerse yourself in the Viking way of life.” Hopefully, they aren’t meaning every aspect of Viking life and leaving it to the happier things like fishing, drinking, and hunting. In addition, as a Viking, you’ll be able to lead your troops into large raids against the English. You’ll even get to grow a settlement and customize a unique Viking raider that you can share with your friends online.
I haven’t played an Assassin’s Creed game in a while. Is this all typical? Do they not focus on being assassins anymore?
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will be available Holiday 2020 on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One with an Xbox Series X launch inevitable and probably a PS5 launch as well. Pre-orders for PC and current gen consoles are live now.
