Assemble Entertainment Announces New ZELDA-Like Game XEL

Assemble Entertainment has announced their newest game being developed by Tiny Roar, XEL which will launch on Steam, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, and Playstation 5 in 2022. XEL is a sci fi Zelda like game that looks pretty fun based on the trailer.

Players will follow Reid who finds herself shipwrecked on a foreign planet and has no memory of who she is. She will need to explore the planet, braving various biomes, solving puzzles, delve into dungeons, and do all this with an unstable sense of time.

During her quest she will meet other people and be able to find and upgrade items along the way. Based on this and the launch trailer, it looks a lot like a sci fi version of Breath of the Wild, but a little more stylized with it’s art.

There even appears to be an enemy that fires a laser from its eye at the end of the trailer, very similar to guardians. It looks like it could be fun with a nice big open world to explore and a mystery to uncover.
