AT&T Reportedly Looking to Sell Warner Bros. Gaming Division

AT&T has quite a bit of debt which is leading the company to look at divesting its assets. One of these assets is the Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment gaming division. According to CNBC, the giant company is looking to sell the gaming division for around $4 billion and people are already lining up. According to their sources, Activision Blizzard, EA, and Take-Two Interactive have all expressed interest, and I really hope EA is not the one to get it in the end.

All that being said, the sources also indicated that a deal would “involve a commercial licensing agreement where AT&T can continue to get revenue from its IP.” After all, most of the games made by WB Interactive are tie-ins to other Warner-owned IP like The LEGO Movie, Game of Thrones, Harry Potter, and others. However, it also owns popular gaming franchises like Mortal Kombat and Scribblenauts.

There have been no official words at the time of writing from any of these companies, so I am treating this as a rumor for now. What do you think? Who would you like to see acquire WB Interactive’s gaming division?
