ATTACK ON TITAN Is Also Getting a Live-Action TV Series Adaptation
A live-action Attack on Titan movie isn't the only adaptation that fans will be getting. There's also a new live-action TV series that is in development, and it's set to be released this coming August.
According to Anime New Network the series will tie into the movie, and act as a bridge between the two live-action films being released. It will tell a new story about the complex everyday lives of soldiers and their secrets while they aren't zipping around fighting Titans.
The show will star Satomi Ishihara, who is reprising her role as Hanji from the movies. The other actors reprising their roles from the movies are Nanami Sakuraba as Sasha, Shu Watanabe as Fukushi, Rina Takeda as Lil, and Ayame Misaki as Hiana. There will also be a new character introduced that will be played by Yūta Hiraoka.
The series will be directed by Sinji Higuchi, who is also a director on the film. Attack on Titan creator Hajime Isayama is apparently also consulting on the series.
The first film will be released August 1st, and the second will hit theaters a month later on September 19th in Japan. The series will stream on the dTV streaming service in August. I really hope that we get to see this stuff here in the states because it looks awesome! If you haven't seen the trailer for the film yet, click here.
