ATTACK THE BLOCK Director Joe Cornish Confirms Sequel Talks Are Happening for the Alien Invasion Film
Attack the Block was a super fun alien invasion film written and directed by Joe Cornish (Ant-Man, The Kid Who Would Be King) in 2011. The movie followed a teen gang in south London who were out to defend their block from the aliens who had invaded the area. The movie was the big screen debut for Star Wars actor John Boyega, and it featured a fun cast including Doctor Who actress Jodie Whittaker and Shaun of the Dead actor Nick Frost.
The movie garnered a solid fanbase, but it never did see a sequel. Now we are hearing that may change. In a recent interview with EW, Cornish was asked what the chances were that he might revisit the story in a sequel. He responded:
We're working on it at the moment. John Boyega was round at my place a few weeks ago and we sat in the garden — socially distanced — talking about story ideas until it was so dark we couldn't see each other. So, yeah, we're working on that.
So that’s pretty definite! A story is in development, and fans can look forward to hearing more soon, it sounds like. That’s awesome news, and I can’t wait to see what happens. Are you looking forward to the continuation of the Attack the Block saga?
