Aubrey Plaza Cites DEADPOOL 2 as the Role That Got Away, Saying "That One Hurt"

Ever since Aubrey Plaza hit the scene in the beloved series Parks and Rec, she has been a force onscreen. She has landed roles in many popular movies and shows, including the upcoming Marvel universe series Agatha: Darkhold Diaries, and her Emmy-nominated work on the HBO series The White Lotus. But as her career charges forward, she still has a few projects she’s missed out on, just like any other actor, and the one that hurts the most is Deadpool 2.

X/Twitter user @plazaupdates reported that the actress spoke to Cosmopolitan about the roles she regrets losing out on. Plaza talked about losing her shot to star in the Deadpool sequel, and she said it was her work commitments on Marvel’s FX series Legion that affected her audition.

“There are a lot of roles that I really wanted that I didn’t get, but everything happens for a reason. I don’t know, the one that sticks out to me for some reason, I think it was Deadpool 2. I had just come off a plane and I think I was shooting Legion at the time, and I really wasn’t in a good zone because you have to be in an auditioning zone and I was in a ‘work zone.’ That one hurt. Me and Ryan Reynolds, what could go wrong? We would be great together.”

It would have been fun to see her opposite Reynolds, but like she said, things have still worked out pretty positively for her. Plaza will next be seen (or heard) in the Netflix series Scott Pilgrim Takes Off, as well as Disney+’s Marvel show Agatha: Darkhold Diaries, both out later this year.
