Aubrey Plaza to Star in and Produce Biopic of "Hollywood Madam" Heidi Fleiss
Aubrey Plaza (Parks and Rec, Agatha All Along, Honey Don’t!) is set to star in and produce The Heidi Fleiss Story, a biopic of “Hollywood madam” Heidi Fleiss from Pinky Promise, the production company behind the Pamela Anderson drama The Last Showgirl.
The dark comedy will be helmed by Leah Rachel in her directorial debut, the creator of the Netflix series Chambers. Rachel Sennott, the actress known for roles in titles like Shiva Baby and Bottoms, who has her own upcoming HBO series, penned the script with Rachel and Travis Jackson.
Fleiss became known in the 1990s for running a high-profile prostitution ring that catered to the rich and powerful of Los Angeles, including some in Hollywood. Her empire came crashing down in 1993, when she was arrested and charged with multiple counts, including pandering, and sentenced to prison.
The film tracks Fleiss in the tense days leading up to her trial, as she navigates Los Angeles, using her web of connections to try to manipulate and blackmail her way out of the charges, with the assistance of an ambitious young writer named Jaclyn.
Production on the film is set to take place in Los Angeles this year. Plaza will next be seen starring opposite Susan Sarandon in The Accompanist, an indie marking the directorial debut of Zack Woods.
