Aubrey Plaza Would Love To Play Lara Croft in a TOMB RAIDER Movie
The rights for the hit video game Tomb Raider are currently up for grabs. MGM recently lost them and whoever gets them next is going to once again start from scratch as Alicia Vikander is no longer involved.
Actress Aubrey Plaza recently threw her hat in the ring to potentially star in the film, when the franchise is eventually rebooted. Edgar Wright kicked all of this into gear after seeing a poster for Plaza’s latest film Emily the Criminal, and he thought she had gotten the role of Lara Croft, and congratulated her, only to find out that she wasn’t playing Croft.
While speaking to Newsweek recently, Plaza was asked if she would ever step into the role of the character, and she said she loves the thought of it, and also addressed how similar she looks to Croft in the poster, saying:
“Look, I have no idea what the future holds for me, but I love it. It was so funny when he texted me that because I didn’t realize how strikingly similar those photos are. Emily is carrying a purse strap and Lara Croft has a gun holster, those are very different. But it’s very weird and totally accidental, but I’ll take it.”
The photo above is the same image that is used on the poster for Emily The Criminal. She definitely looks like she could take on the role of Lara Croft. Will it ever happen? Only time will tell. What do you think, though? Would you like to see Plaza play Croft in a film?
