MOANA's Auli'i Cravalho to Play Ariel in ABC's THE LITTLE MERMAID Live with Queen Latifa Playing Ursula

ABC is reviving the previously cancelled The Wonderful World of Disney: The Little Mermaid Live that was supposed to happen two years ago, in 2017. However, now they have revived the idea of a concert production around everyone’s favorite mermaid and her pals and have three of the cast members already. Auli’i Cravalho (the voice of Moana) will play Ariel with Queen Latifah playing Ursula and Shaggy will be Sebastian.

This won’t be the first time that we see Queen Latifa as Ursula. she was a part of the Dream Portrait Series by photographer Annie Leibovitz years ago.

It’s explained that the hybrid format will “feature intricate sets and costumes, with music from the original animated film and Tony-winning Broadway stage version. The latter's lyricist, Glenn Slater, will also contribute to the ABC special.”

This performance will happen in front of a live studio audience and air on November 5 at 8 PM.
