Author Ernest Cline Confirms He's Writing a READY PLAYER ONE Sequel!
This weekend a new trailer for Steven Spielberg's Ready Play One was released online and I love what I've seen from this film! If you're a fan of the book that the movie is based on, you might be excited to learn that author Ernest Cline is currently writing a sequel!
I loved the ending of the book, but I was just so engulfed in the story that when it ended I didn't want to see it come to an end. I wanted to see the story of Parzival and Art3mis continue! Well, it looks like we will get to see what happens after the conclusion of the epic adventure from the first book.
During a recent livestream on Facebook, Cline was asked if it was true that he was writing a sequel and this was his response:
"It's true. I can’t talk about it too much, but there’s no better inspiration for a writer [than] to return to a world they’ve already worked on when they’re watching Steven Spielberg bring that world to life."
It's not surprising that CLine's not going to reveal any details, but I do think it's interesting that he was inspired to write the novel by watching director Steven Spielberg bring his story to life on the big screen and that it influenced his work on the sequel. Apparently, he's even bounced ideas off the director for the sequel! I can't wait to see where Cline ends up taking these character next!
I know we've got a long way to go before this sequel is published, but in the meantime, we have the movie coming in March! Also, if you haven't read Ready Player One yet, you really should!

The film also stars Tye Sherida, Olivia Cooke, Ben Mendelsohn and T.J. Miller, and Simon Pegg. Ready Player One hits theaters March 30, 2018.
