Ava DuVernay Confirms Darkseid and the Furies for DC's New Gods

One of the biggest announcements recently was that director Ava DuVernay (Selma, A Wrinkle in Time) was going to direct the film adaptation of Jack Kirby’s classic DC comic New Gods. This is going to be awesome because that means we are finally going to see Darkseid and Apokolips, but what else will this contain?

The director held an AMA on Twitter, and this is what she had to say:

That is freaking amazing! The Furies or Female Furies are a group of female warriors from Apokolips that do Darkseid’s dirty work. DuVernay has already said that Big Barda is going to be one of the characters in the group, it makes me wonder who else she is going to throw onto the team. Let’s speculate, shall we!

Big Barda is the ace of the team and she was the number one student of Furies trainer and Darkseid’s right hand man, Granny Goodness. Notable members are Bernadeth, Lashina, Stompa, Mad Harriet, Gilotina and Artemiz. Any combination of these elite warriors would be great.

Also with this admission of the inclusion of Big Barda, did she give away the presence of Mister Miracle in the movie? Oh man I hope so. There really isn’t many details about this movie so anything other than what she said is purely speculation.

There is no release date for this movie, but I have high hopes for what is going to happen. As we get more information, we will get it to you. Let us know what you think.
