Ava DuVernay to Develop Animated Adaptation of WINGS OF FIRE for WB
Ava DuVernay (A Wrinkle in Time) is set to develop an animated series adaptation of Tui T. Sutherland’s dragon fantasy book series Wings of Fire.
For those of you not familiar with Wings of Fire series, “the multi-continental books initially focus on the differing POVs of a group of five young dragons who are prophesized to end a decades long war that has decimated the fictional lands of Pyrrhia and Pantala.”
The property consists of 15 novels, three graphic novels, and four short stories. The project is set up at Warner Bros. who picked up the rights to the property for an amount in the eight figures.
DuVernay will serve as an executive producer alongside Sutherland. The filmmaker has been keeping busy and has a full plate of projects in the works including the adaptation of Jack Kirby’s DC comic series New Gods.
Have you read any of these Wings of Fire books? It sounds like they are the perfect subject matter for an animated series.
