AVATAR: FIRE AND ASH: New Character and Details Revealed For The Wind Traders
One of the new characters that will be introduced in James Cameron’s Avatar: Fire and Ash has been revealed, thanks to Empire.
The character is part of the Tlalim Clan, also known as The Wind Traders. His name is Peylak, and he’s played by David Thewlis. The character is a chieftain, and when providing details about this particular clan, costume designer Deborah L. Scott said:
“They’re upbeat, happy, colorful. And when they come into our movie, everyone’s excited to see them. It’s like the circus is in town.”
Scott went on to discuss Peylak’s look, saying:
“Originally, the cloak was a little more rugged, a little more rustic. But as all the clans developed, Jim [Cameron] said, ‘I just don’t think it’s grand enough.’ So I went back and reinvented it.”
When talking about what Thewlis brings to the role, Scott added:
“The way he carries himself, he’s got great posture. He’s absolutely stunning in the movie.”
Cameron previously spoke about The Wind Traders, saying:
“They’re nomadic traders, equivalent to the camel caravans of the Spice Road back in the Middle Ages. And you know, they’re just fun.
“Like all Na’vi, they live in a symbiosis with their creatures.” Get ready to take to the skies in an all-new way. “If you’ve got any nautical blood in your veins, you’ll want to be on [their] ship.”
The movie also stars Zoe Saldana, Sam Worthington, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Cliff Curtis, Joel David Moore, CCH Pounder, Edie Falco, Jemaine Clement, and Kate Winslet.
Avatar: Fire and Ash will hit theaters on December 25, 2025.
