AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY Reshoots Are Underway With Reportedly “A Lot” of Cameos Being Added

Avengers: Doomsday is back in front of the cameras, and Marvel Studios may be using the additional photography to bring even more familiar faces into the MCU’s next massive team-up.

The film is currently undergoing reshoots, and insider Daniel Richtman reports that Joe Russo and Anthony Russo are adding “a lot” of cameos to the movie. We don’t know exactly who those characters will be, but there are already some interesting clues floating around.

The Doomsday cast is huge, but plenty of major MCU players are still missing from the lineup. Several characters introduced during the Multiverse Saga who seemed destined to play important roles in Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars also haven’t been officially announced.

That could be changing during these reshoots. There has been talk that Mark Ruffalo stepped away from filming Task Season 2 to shoot scenes for Avengers: Doomsday. Elizabeth Olsen could also return as Scarlet Witch after her stunt double was reportedly involved with filming.

Now Jeremy Renner may have joined the party as Hawkeye. Renner recently posted a photo of Hawkeye’s costume on Instagram, accompanied by a piece of music labeled “Avengers x Hawkeye.”

Marvel hasn’t officially announced Clint Barton for Doomsday, but that’s certainly one hell of a coincidence to drop while additional photography is happening.

Renner has also previously talked about visiting the Russo Brothers while Doomsday was filming in London, explaining that his relationship with the filmmakers and his fellow Avengers cast members is still strong.

“Yeah, well, [the Russo Brothers] are very, very dear friends of mine. I got to catch up with them, actually, when I was on the book tour when they were filming in London,” Renner said.

“I got to break bread with all of the boys on [Avengers: Doomsday]. It was good to see everybody, and we have a forever bond. Whether we're filming or not, we're always connected.”

His Hawkeye post doesn’t guarantee an appearance, but it definitely gives fans another reason to keep an eye on Clint Barton as Marvel heads toward Doomsday.

The reshoots could also result in more than a few surprise appearances. With Richtman claiming there will be plenty of cameos, Marvel has a lot of characters to choose from across the MCU, the X-Men universe, and its growing collection of alternate realities.

Additional photography could also change portions of the movie enough that some of the Avengers: Doomsday plot leaks currently circulating online may no longer be accurate.

We’ve already seen that happen with the Avengers franchise. In Avengers: Infinity War, Bruce Banner was originally going to transform into the Hulk while inside the Hulkbuster armor. That storyline was ultimately changed, with Banner’s evolution into Smart Hulk held back until Avengers: Endgame.

Doomsday could be undergoing similar adjustments as the filmmakers work through the final version of the movie. Personally, I’d love to see some of that extra screen time used to expand the X-Men roster, especially with Marvel having access to so many characters and actors from across its cinematic history.

We also know the additional photography is definitely happening thanks to Winston Duke, who is returning from Black Panther as M’Baku. “We just wrapped and are doing some additional photography for Avengers: Doomsday.”

We just don’t know exactly how extensive those new scenes will be. Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters December 18.
