AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY Reshoots Reportedly Added a Big Doctor Doom Fight Against a Major MCU Character
A potentially huge Avengers: Doomsday moment may have gone from something audiences would only hear about to a confrontation we could actually watch unfold.
A new rumor claims Doctor Doom will invade the TVA and come face-to-face with Loki, and that Marvel Studios recently filmed the encounter during reshoots. If the report is legit, we may even get to see the two Marvel heavyweights throw down.
Insider James Mack shared the claim on X, saying: “Apparently, from what I’ve heard, the scene of Doom invading the TVA and confronting Loki, which was originally going to happen off-screen, was filmed during the reshoots, and will now show what actually happened.”
When a fan asked, “Does that mean we’re going to see Doom vs. Loki?” Mack responded: “Maybe.”
Previous Avengers: Doomsday rumors have claimed Doom will infiltrate and destroy the TVA, with Loki fighting him during the attack. The interesting part of this latest report is that Marvel may have decided the confrontation was simply too important to leave unseen.
Fans are already debating whether showing the attack is actually the better choice. One fan reacted: “Why the hell was that originally off-screen in the first place seemed way too important for that.”
Another fan argued that keeping Doom's attack unseen could have made the aftermath even more effective: “Not gonna lie, I feel it would feel more insidious if we saw the fallout of Doom’s onslaught of the TVA as opposed to seeing him do it in real time. Just a thought.”
Both approaches could work, but if you're putting Doom and Loki in the same place, it's hard not to want to see what happens when they collide!
By the end of Loki Season 2, Loki had become the God of Stories, personally sustaining the branching timelines. That puts him in a particularly interesting position as Doomsday digs into the Multiverse and makes him an obvious potential target for Doom. Exactly why Doom would need to confront him remains unknown.
Seeing Doom take on Loki, though, would be awesome to see. Loki isn't the mischievous Asgardian audiences first met years ago. He's now one of the MCU's most powerful and important figures, so putting Doom against him could make for a badass Marvel showdown.
Of course, none of this has been confirmed by Marvel Studios, so the reported Avengers: Doomsday reshoot and possible Doctor Doom vs. Loki fight should remain firmly in rumor territory for now.
The movie will bring heroes from three different universes together against an existential threat, with Doctor Doom sitting at the center of the conflict. Doom is also expected to clash with several other characters while recruiting some familiar faces to his side.
Robert Downey Jr. will make his MCU return as Doctor Doom, with a massive group of Marvel veterans joining him. Chris Evans returns as Steve Rogers, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic, Simu Liu as Shang-Chi, Channing Tatum as Gambit, Ian McKellen as Magneto, James Marsden as Cyclops, and Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, along with plenty of other familiar Marvel characters.
We'll find out what Doom actually does to the TVA when Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters on December 18, 2026.
