AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY Rumor Claims Doctor Doom's Second-in-Command Will Be a Familiar MCU Character

There have been tons of rumors around the upcoming reign of Doctor Doom in the MCU, and this latest one is very interesting.

Many believe that Doom will be flanked with a group of loyal followers in Avengers: Doomsday that will be masked variants of characters we are already familiar with, just as our former Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) is playing the part of the villain.

This new tip lends itself to that theory, with insider Daniel Richtman reporting that Doom has a "wizard" as his second-in-command, and he makes a point of noting that this mystery person uses a Sling Ring.

So that would of course be another Marvel Doctor… Dr. Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch). He would absolutely be a formidable sidekick in Doom’s court.

Cumberbatch has previously said he'll be "in a lot" of Avengers: Secret Wars, with Strange "quite central to where things might go."

So this does seem plausible. This also seems like something we will find out about as soon as we start seeing trailers for the film, which doesn’t feel too far off at this point. Stay tuned for updates.

Avengers: Doomsday is set to hit theaters on December 18, 2026. Avengers: Secret Wars is scheduled to follow on December 17, 2027.
