AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY Rumor Teases Brutal Fate for the X-Men
If you’ve been keeping an eye on Avengers: Doomsday, things just got a lot darker for the X-Men. A new report is painting a pretty intense picture of what happens to Marvel’s mutant squad when they finally enter the MCU’s next massive crossover.
None of this is confirmed, but the details floating around are sure to get fans talking. According to a post making the rounds, most of the X-Men don’t make it out of the film alive. Insider James Mack dropped the following claim:
“Apparently, in Avengers Doomsday, all the X-Men died dealing with incursions, leaving only Mystique, Nightcrawler, Cyclops, Wolverine, Deadpool, Professor X, Magneto, Beast, Gambit and one more character.”
When someone followed up asking, “That’s why we only have a limited roster of X-Men?” Mack replied, “Yes.”
Scooper MyTimeToShineHello added more context earlier this year, suggesting this isn’t just a one-time tragedy. Instead, it’s something the mutants have been dealing with over and over again.
They wrote, “The X-Men in Avengers Doomsday have survived countless Incursions, each one nearly wiping out their universe. They’re exhausted, broken, and have sacrificed everything.”
So, this isn’t just a bad day at the office. It sounds like a full-on war of attrition. It gets even more extreme when you hear how they’ve been surviving.
According to the same source, “Every Incursion forces them to send their members to another Earth to battle its defenders and erase that universe from existence before it destroys theirs.”
That’s a pretty brutal strategy. It would also add a much darker edge to the X-Men than what audiences are used to seeing on screen.
Right now, it’s all still in rumor territory. Marvel hasn’t officially confirmed any of this, and the studio is keeping its cards close as usual. But if even part of this ends up being real, the film could introduce the X-Men in a way that’s way more intense than expected.
The movie is set to hit theaters on December 18, 2026, with Anthony Russo and Joe Russo back in the director’s chairs. Whatever goes down in Avengers: Doomsday, it’s only the beginning. The story continues in Avengers: Secret Wars, which is already set for December 17, 2027.
