AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY Star Wyatt Russell Says the Movie “Is Looking Awesome” as Filming Nears Completion

Marvel fans are still waiting to see exactly what Avengers: Doomsday has in store, but one of the film’s stars is giving audiences another reason to get excited.

Wyatt Russell, who returns as John Walker, better known as U.S. Agent, recently shared an encouraging update on the highly anticipated MCU event film while attending the UK premiere of his latest movie, Disclosure Day. According to Russell, the project is in great shape as production heads toward the finish line.

The actor revealed that most of the filming has already been completed, and while he hasn’t seen much of the finished movie, what he has seen has left him impressed.

“It’s looking awesome from what I’m able to glean,” Russell said. He went on to explain that he hasn’t “seen much,” though he has been able to check out some of the trailers.

Even without seeing the full picture yet, Russell clearly enjoyed being part of the massive Marvel production. Looking back on the experience, he spoke enthusiastically about working alongside the film’s cast.

“Just doing it was a blast,” he shared before reflecting on his time with fellow cast members Sebastian Stan, David Harbour, and Florence Pugh.

“We worked a lot, you know…on set with everybody. Florence [Pugh] being on set with them. And all the other people you could be on set with. It’s a cool place to be.”

Russell added, “I’ve had a blast, and I’m happy to get to be able to see it.”

That’s exactly the kind of reaction fans hope to hear from someone who spent months helping bring one of Marvel’s biggest productions to life. While Marvel remains extremely protective of story details, comments like these suggest the cast is feeling pretty good about what’s coming.

Adding even more intrigue to the project, directors Joe Russo and Anthony Russo have hinted that Avengers: Doomsday won’t simply continue existing MCU storylines. Instead, it may serve as a fresh starting point for the franchise.

Speaking at SXSW London, Joe Russo explained that the movie aims to bring audiences back to what he called “Phase Zero.”

“This is starting over from scratch. We want to make sure everybody feels like this isn’t leaning on anything from the past”

While longtime fans will undoubtedly appreciate the connections to previous stories, the filmmakers appear focused on creating something accessible that can also launch the next era of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

With filming reportedly nearing completion and the Russos teasing a major new direction for Marvel, anticipation for the movie continues to build. If Russell’s early impressions are any indication, fans may be in for something pretty special when Avengers: Doomsday arrives in theaters on December 18, 2026.

The story won’t end there, either. Marvel will follow it up with Avengers: Secret Wars on December 17, 2027.
