AVENGERS ENDGAME: ENCORE’s New Ending Revealed Along With 3 Huge Post-Credits Scenes

Marvel fans heading back to theaters for Avengers Endgame: Encore are getting more than another chance to watch the Avengers take down Thanos on the big screen. The rerelease includes a new ending and three post-credits scenes that directly connect the 2019 blockbuster to Avengers: Doomsday.

Yes, three. Previous reports pointed to two additional scenes, but the theatrical release has another major surprise waiting at the very end. All of these scenes have leaked online, but the quality is poor.

The biggest change actually happens before the credits begin. Avengers: Endgame originally closed with Steve Rogers finally getting the life he wanted, dancing with Peggy Carter before the movie faded to black.

Encore reportedly changes that moment. After Steve and Peggy kiss, someone knocks on the door. Steve quickly moves out of sight as Peggy answers it and asks the unexpected visitor if she can help him.

The man responds, "I can help you. Both of you." It's Loki, dressed in his TVA uniform.

Steve steps out of the shadows and finds himself face-to-face with the man who once led an alien invasion against Earth. Before we can learn why Loki has come looking for Captain America, the screen cuts to black.

Then Marvel has three more scenes waiting during the credits. The first catches up with Bruce Banner following the events of Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

Banner is older, with grey hair and a beard, and he's isolated himself inside a military facility buried miles beneath the Earth. He's taken extreme measures to make sure Hulk can't escape and that nobody can reach him.

Despite locking himself away, Bruce still wants his freedom. In a video log, he explains that he's been developing new Gamma-suppression techniques in hopes of controlling the situation.

Then a mysterious green glow appears. "Who are you?" Banner asks. Doctor Doom answers, "Mr. Banner. I'm here to collect you."

Hulk lets out a roar before both Banner and Doom disappear. All that's left behind is a glowing green sigil on the floor.

The second post-credits scene returns to the Time Variant Authority, where Mobius shows up for work. There's also a fun little detail on the wall: Loki appears to have earned himself an "Employee of the Month" placard.

Things quickly get much more serious when Casey and O.B. discover an Incursion occurring between Earth-10005 and Earth-1127. The two realities have started firing missiles at one another, with each apparently attempting to destroy the opposing Earth before the universes collide.

Then more Incursions start appearing and soon there are thousands of them. O.B. sums up the rapidly escalating disaster with a pretty terrifying warning: "The Multiverse is collapsing."

Marvel saves one more reveal for the final stinger, and it completely recontextualizes a detail of Endgame. Fans might emember the sound heard at the very end of the original movie's credits, which echoed Tony Stark hammering together his first Iron Man armor. Encore finally puts an image to that familiar sound.

It's Doctor Doom forging his mask. What was originally a tribute to Iron Man has now been repurposed as a direct lead-in to Avengers: Doomsday, giving Doom the final moment of the rerelease.

Seven years later, Marvel is turning the ending of Endgame into something new. Whatever Marvel has planned for Avengers: Doomsday, Avengers Endgame: Encore is going to help set up what is coming.
