AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR Deleted Scene Features Black Widow Meeting Smart Hulk for the First Time
While we didn’t see Smart Hulk until Avengers: Endgame, he was originally supposed to appear in Avengers: Infinity War. A deleted scene from the film has surfaced, and it features a scene where Black Widow and Falcon meet Smart Hulk for the first time. As you might imagine, she’s pretty surprised by the transformation.
The scene takes place during the Battle for Wakanda, which is going on nearby. It was originally revealed that at one point, Banner is arguing with Hulk while in the Hulkbuster armor, much as he did in the version of the movie that we all saw. Hulk refuses to help, forcing Banner to battle Cull Obsidian by himself, the alternate scene involves Banner telling the Hulk: "I have an idea..." This would have led to the creation of Smart Hulk.
The Russo Brothers decided that there was already too much going on in that climactic final act of the film to introduce a new version of Hulk. So they moved that particular development until the next movie.
