AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR Will Include Coming-of-Age Arc For Adolescent Groot and He'll Find a Mentor
A couple little new details have been revealed for what's in store for adolescent Groot in Avengers: Infinity War. While Vin Diesel is set to return to provide the voice of Groot, the character is being physically brought to life by motion-capture performer Terry Notary. During a recent interview with Yahoo Movies, Notary shed some light on what we can expect from Groot in the upcoming Marvel film.
According to Notary, Infinity Wars will include a coming-of-age story arc for Groot and he will also find a mentor.
"Yes, I am playing teenage Groot. I’m having a blast with it. It’s really, really fun. I can’t say too much about him, but he’s coming of age, so you’ll see the teenager find a mentor to look up to and to model himself after. The character’s great, and the films are going to be great. We’ve got such an amazing cast and a great pair of directors at the helm. The Russos allow the actors to jam on scenes together to the point where it just feels great and everybody gets their moments."
It will be interesting to see who this mentor for Groot will be. It's been previously stated that Chris Pratt's Peter Quill is going to be more like a father figure to Groot, so I imagine the mentor is going to be someone else. I'm sure that might cause some tension between Quill and whoever this mentor will be.
Will this mentor be one of the Guardians or will it be one of the Avengers? With Groot and Peter Parker both being teenagers, that seems like it would make for a fun and interesting dynamic. Mentors don't necessarily have to be older.
Who would you like to see end up being Groot's mentor? Whoever that mentor is, he or she is bound to have an impact on Groot's behavior as he gets older.
