AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR Will Pay Off Every Little Thread and Tease From Every Film in The MCU
We know that Avengers: Infinity War is the beginning of the end of the MCU as we know it. Then, Avengers 4 will close it out, and at the same time launch the future of the MCU. I assumed that since this whole thing is coming to an end that we would see a lot of questions answered that fans have been waiting for. But, according to director Joe Russo, these next two Avengers films will be a "culmination" of every story thread since Iron Man.
On the home video release of Thor: Ragnarok, there is a retrospective special feature called "Marvel Studios: The First Ten Years - The Evolution of Heroes". In it, director Joe Russo teases:
"Every story that Marvel has told since Iron Man 1 finds a narrative thread in these next two Avengers movies. It is a culmination of all that storytelling."
Marvel Studios has made 18 films over the course of 10 years, and according to Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige, Infinity War alone will pay off ever little thread and tease from those films.
“With Infinity War, we’re paying off every little thread and every little tease that we’ve had in what will be 18 films prior to Infinity War. There’s never been anything like this. Being able to, film after film, tease at a larger story. Really building these stories up into a giant conclusion. While at the same time introducing an entirely new direction for the future."
That's extremely exciting! I figured the films would touch on a few things, but the fact that they say there will be a payoff for everything is so cool! When previously talking about these Avengers films, Feige said that it will “bring things you’ve never seen in superhero films: a finale. There will be two distinct periods. Everything before Avengers 4 and everything after. I know it will not be in ways people are expecting.”
Everything that Marvel has been doing has been building up to these films, and it's going to be amazing to see the fruits of their labor pay off in the most epic way!
