AVENGERS: SECRET WARS Rumor Reveals How Doctor Doom Creates Battleworld in the MCU
A new rumor surrounding Avengers: Secret Wars is offering interesting insight into how Doctor Doom may reshape reality and bring Battleworld into existence in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
While Marvel Studios is keeping official story details locked down, this latest scoop lines up closely with the iconic comic storyline and hints at how massive the stakes are about to get.
Marvel Studios is currently deep in post-production on Avengers: Doomsday, which is being directed by Joe Russo and Anthony Russo, and these next two Avengers movies are expected to serve as the MCU’s next major event saga.
In the original Secret Wars comic event by Jonathan Hickman and Esad Ribić, the Marvel Multiverse collapses after repeated incursions between universes. Doctor Doom manages to save fragments of multiple realities and fuses them into a single patchwork world called Battleworld, which he rules as a god.
It’s one of Marvel’s most ambitious and high-concept stories, and fans have long suspected the MCU would eventually head in this direction.
According to scooper James Mack, that suspicion might be right on the money. Mack claims that when the incursion occurs in the MCU, different groups of survivors will escape total annihilation in very specific ways.
He explains that “one group will survive in the Quantum Realm and another on a ship/raft over the ground of the Void (TVA) when Doom creates Battleworld. In the Void, Doom is like Cassandra Nova, but ruling everything, the GOD.”
The Void is the desolate wasteland at the end of time introduced in Loki and revisited in Deadpool & Wolverine. This version of the Void should not be confused with the one featured in Thunderbolts*, as they are entirely different concepts. If Mack’s information is accurate, Battleworld might not be a newly formed planet at all, but rather a reality Doom constructs within the Void itself, using it as his personal kingdom beyond time.
The rumor also supports a growing theory involving Cassie Lang from Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Mack suggests that Cassie could be responsible for guiding certain characters into the Quantum Realm when the incursion begins.
Cassie is played by Kathryn Newton in the MCU, and while Marvel hasn’t officially confirmed her involvement in Avengers: Doomsday, Newton was recently spotted wearing a production hat tied to the film, which only adds fuel to the speculation.
If this rumor holds true, Avengers: Secret Wars could give the MCU a clever way to adapt Battleworld without starting completely from scratch, grounding it in concepts audiences already understand.
Avengers: Doomsday is currently scheduled for release on December 18, 2026, with Avengers: Secret Wars set to follow on December 17, 2027.
