Awesome Must-Watch Sci-Fi/Horror Animated Short Film BEACON!
Over the weekend, while I was watching a bunch of short films at the FilmQuest film festival, there was a sci-fi horror animated film that screened titled Beacon, and this thing is awesome! I loved the tone and the visual style of it, and it also told a dark and crazy story that is completely engaging.
The short was just released online and you can watch it now! In the film, “After a freak accident, a mechanic is left stranded on a barren ice planet waiting to be rescued but, unbeknownst to him, his ordeal is only just beginning.” This is a harsh and brutal envornment.
The story plays out wonderfully, and it left me wanting more! This is the kind of thing I’d love to see as a series or a film! It was directed by Andrew Stadler, and he shared the following statement with the short:
Beacon is the senior film I directed at my final year of SCAD. Without the support of my fantastic crew, friends, and family this film would not have been possible. Thank you to the animation class of 2022 for voting for my pitch to go forward. Beacon would not exist without your votes. Thank you to all those involved who made this film possible. We couldn't have done it without you!
