Awesome New Action-Packed STREET FIGHTER Trailer Ingintes Ryu and Ken's Classic Rivalry
Ryu and Ken are ready to throw down, and the latest trailer for Street Fighter puts their legendary friendship and rivalry right where it belongs… in the ring.
This new trailer narrows the focus to Ryu and Ken, giving us a better look at the relationship between the two longtime friends and rivals who have been beating the hell out of each other in the games for decades.
But, there’s still all the crazy action and it highlights those awesome Street Fighter moves from several of the different characters in the game! It’s crazy seeing some of these movie brought to lif in live action!
Andrew Koji takes on the role of Ryu, with Noah Centineo playing Ken Masters and Callina Liang starring as Chun-Li. The trio looks positioned to form the heart of the movie as the story throws them into the brutal World Warrior Tournament.
The story follows Chun-Li as she recruits Ryu and Ken to take on M. Bison, played by David Dastmalchian. Naturally, getting there means plenty of fighting, and this latest footage gives us another taste of these characters cutting loose.
This will be the third live-action adaptation of the Street Fighter games, but the 2026 film exists in its own continuity and is bringing a ridiculously large collection of characters along for the ride.
Joining Koji, Centineo, Liang, and Dastmalchian are Joe “Roman Reigns” Anoa’i, Cody Rhodes, Eric André, Andrew Schulz, Vidyut Jammwal, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, and Jason Momoa. It's a wild mix of actors, wrestlers, comedians, and personalities.
Kitao Sakurai directs the film and co-wrote the screenplay with T. J. Fixman. Danny and Michael Philippou were originally attached to direct before leaving the project to concentrate on their 2025 folk-horror movie Bring Her Back.
Sakurai recently talked about what he and the team were trying to accomplish with the adaptation, particularly when it came to avoiding the generic approach that can sometimes plague video game movies.
“Everybody wanted to get behind creating a movie that had a very distinct tone and approach, that didn’t feel like an off-the-shelf video-game movie. I was brought on to make something that didn’t feel conventional, and they really let me do my thing.”
That approach has me excited to see how the movie turns out. Street Fighter has colorful characters, wild personalities, martial arts action, and decades of rivalries to pull from, and putting Ryu and Ken’s relationship at the center gives all that fighting something to hang on.
Sakurai seems committed to giving the movie its own personality, and I’m ready to see the World Warrior Tournament erupt on the big screen.
Street Fighter will be released by Paramount Pictures in IMAX on October 16, 2026.
