Awesome New Trailer for HOPE Unleashes Na Hong-jin's Wild Sci-Fi Action Nightmare
The full trailer for Hope has finally landed, and if you were wondering what happens when Na Hong-jin decides to make a sci-fi action movie, the answer looks absolutely insane.
The acclaimed filmmaker behind The Chaser, The Yellow Sea, and The Wailing is stepping into completely new territory with a monster-filled alien invasion story that looks packed with intense action, unsettling creatures, and pure chaos.
Plus M Entertainment has released a new trailer ahead of the film's Korean debut, giving audiences their best look yet at what Na has cooked up. If you enjoy creature features, alien horror, and over-the-top action sequences, this one deserves to be on your radar.
Hope already made plenty of noise after premiering at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival, where audiences and critics couldn't seem to agree on what they had just watched.
Some questioned whether it belonged in competition, while others embraced it as an instant cult favorite. Whether it's a masterpiece or complete madness seems to depend entirely on who you ask, but one thing is clear. People aren't walking away without an opinion.
The story takes place in the isolated community of Hope Harbor, a small village near the heavily fortified Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMZ). At first, the town is shaken by reports that a tiger has wandered into the area, prompting local police chief Bum-seok to investigate.
That strange incident quickly turns into something far more terrifying as the residents discover they're facing mysterious alien creatures that have crashed nearby. Suddenly, survival becomes the only thing that matters.
The trailer gives us a taste of just how massive the movie gets. The action spreads across forests, city streets, and every corner of the town as the human survivors battle terrifying extraterrestrial monsters. It looks fast, violent, unpredictable, and filled with some seriously impressive creature mayhem.
The cast is led by Hwang Jung-min, Zo In-sung, and Jung Ho-yeon, with special appearances from Taylor Russell, Alicia Vikander, and Michael Fassbender, who portray the film's mysterious alien visitors.
Na Hong-jin wrote and directed Hope, continuing to push himself into completely different creative territory after building his reputation with some of Korea's most acclaimed thrillers and horror films. The movie was produced by Na Hong-jin and Kim Sae-mi through Forged Films and Plus M Entertainment.
The film opens in South Korea on July 15, giving home audiences the first chance to experience the madness on the big screen. U.S. audiences won't have to wait much longer, as Neon will release Hope in theaters beginning September 9, 2026.
