Awesome TRON: LEGACY “Gridhawks” Art Print by Casey Callender
Artist Casey Callender has created a slick new art print for Hero Complex Gallery inspired by Disney’s Tron: Legacy titled “Gridhawks,” and it drops us right into the neon-soaked world of the Grid.
The piece captures a group of light cycle riders tearing through the streets outside Flynn’s, with those blazing orange and blue trails cutting across the scene.
It’s a cool piece of Tron art that really captures the movie’s killer visual style, and this particular release is appropriately dubbed the “Daft Punk Edition,” giving a nod to the electronic duo behind the film’s unforgettable score.
The composition is also clearly inspired by Edward Hopper’s iconic 1942 painting “Nighthawks”, which depicts a handful of late-night customers sitting inside a brightly illuminated diner surrounded by the darkness of an empty city.
Callender gives that instantly recognizable scene a Tron: Legacy makeover, transforming Hopper’s quiet diner into Flynn’s and replacing the lonely nighttime streets with light cycles, glowing trails, and inhabitants of the Grid.
Even the title “Gridhawks” is a fun riff on Nighthawks. It’s a great mashup of classic American art and the futuristic aesthetic of Tron, and the combination is awesome.
“Gridhawks” measures 36x24 inches and is being offered in two limited editions. The regular edition is limited to 250 prints and priced at $75, while collectors looking for something with a little extra shine can grab the Metallic Edition, which is limited to only 85 prints and priced at $135.
If you’re a fan of Tron: Legacy, Daft Punk, or just love awesome sci-fi movie art, this would make a pretty badass addition to the wall.
